Volunteers
Volunteers are welcome here at Glyde-In and we couldn’t do without them. Our volunteers are many and varied, with people sometimes working in teams and at other times independently. Our current volunteer roles include:
- Management Committee: Elected for 12 months from the members at the Annual General Meeting. The committee meets no less than six times per year. Roles include Chairperson, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and between two and eight additional members;
- Garden Gnomes: These members regularly pot, water, tend and care for our beautiful gardens. The Gnomes hold a busy bee four times each year, with all hands on deck and extra volunteers welcome;
- Mail-out Group: This group ensures that members receive the term programmes;
- Enrolment Group: Around 25 people, including staff and volunteers, who help ensure that the enrolment process is carried out smoothly and efficiently on Enrolment day each term;
- Maintenance: Small jobs crop up that need attending to in our building;
- Events assistance: Room set-up for courses and talks, welcoming members and introducing speakers;
- Occasional office relief;
- Culture Club organiser;
- Out’n About organisers: Planning, bus driving, hosting.
- Community Quilters: Our monthly quilting group regularly change the quilts on display in our Garden Room. The quilts improve the acoustics in the room as well as making it beautiful;
- Group Leaders – Regular Groups: mah-jong, chess, scrabble, cycling, walking, etc;
- Donations of quality books and plants are always welcome.
So if you'd like to help out, you'd be most welcome. We’ll help you become acclimatised and trained up where need be, and ensure you have a worthwhile experience here at Glyde-In.
Glyde-In has comprehensive volunteer insurance cover.
